Cursor, Cline, Aider, Copilot. Year of agents. Honest review of who saves time and who wastes it.

Cursor: Claude under the hood, agentic mode for multi-file edits. Best for medium tasks. $20/mo. Saves 30-40% time on greenfield code.

Cline (former Continue): VS Code extension, runs local or any provider. Slightly worse than Cursor at agentic, more flexible.

Aider: terminal-only, works with git, no GUI. Lean and reliable.

Copilot: in-line autocomplete, weakest agent. Still useful for typing speed.

For solo dev: Cursor. For team: Cursor plus Aider for git-heavy refactors.
