Website redesign and rebuild for a cathodic protection equipment manufacturer.

The corporate website of INIT CENTR, a Zelenograd-based maker of cathodic protection stations, corrosion monitoring test points and surge protection devices. We replaced an outdated page-builder theme with a custom WordPress theme, made the site three times faster on phones and switched to the new version in one evening, keeping every old URL alive.

Stage 01 · Audit

Audit: why rebuilding beat patching.

The old site was built with a page builder and had grown a pile of plugins. It loaded slowly on phones, was hard to update, and any edit risked breaking something. The audit showed the problem was the foundation itself, so we rebuilt the site. How we run projects like this is described on the Website redesign service page.

  • Slow on phones: the main screen took almost 7 seconds to appear.
  • Outdated plugins, some of which could no longer be updated.
  • SEO depended on a single plugin that was leaving with the old theme.
  • Hard to maintain: every change needed care and time.
Stage 02 · Foundation

A custom theme instead of a page builder and 11 plugins.

We wrote the theme from scratch around the manufacturer’s needs. One plugin is left, everything else lives in the theme code. The site became lighter, faster and easier to maintain, and editors still work in the WordPress admin they know.

  • Sections built around the product: equipment with modules, documents with expiry dates, articles.
  • Layout that edits cannot break: page structure is defined by templates.
  • Lightweight code without heavy libraries or extra scripts.
  • Safe updates: no abandoned plugins on the site.
Stage 03 · Design

A dark sidebar, white cards, a red accent.

The interface is built around a dark sidebar with the site sections, which can be collapsed. Content sits on light cards, and the accent is the VEKTRUM brand red. The design is strict and calm, as it should be for an industrial manufacturer.

  • Dark mode and an accessibility version.
  • 3D equipment models you can rotate with a mouse or a finger.
  • Live search across equipment, documents and FAQ. It understands a wrong keyboard layout.
  • A convenient mobile version: call, documentation and company details always at hand.
Stage 04 · Speed

93–100 mobile Lighthouse points.

We measured speed with Google Lighthouse in mobile mode. The old site scored 65, the new one scores 93 to 100 on every key page.

  • Home: 93 points.
  • Catalog: 99 points.
  • Equipment page: 97 points.
  • Articles and contacts: 99 and 100 points.
Stage 05 · SEO

Technical SEO is built into the theme, not a plugin.

Everything search engines need now works inside the theme itself and does not depend on third-party plugins. Old URLs were preserved, so the rankings the site had earned were not lost. We start projects like this with an audit.

  • Titles and descriptions for every page, with templates for new entries.
  • Schema.org markup: company, equipment, articles, questions and answers.
  • A sitemap with documents and fast reindexing in Yandex and Bing via IndexNow.
  • Files for AI assistants, so the site shows up correctly in their answers.
Stage 06 · Maintenance

Security and maintenance after launch.

After launch the site stayed with us for technical maintenance: updates, backups, content edits and indexing checks. See what that includes on the WordPress website support page.

  • Protected admin sign-in.
  • Daily backups.
  • Analytics consent: if a visitor declines, the counter does not run.
  • Safe update deploys.
