Website redesign and rebuild

A new design and a rebuilt core without losing rankings: a custom theme instead of a page builder, a fast mobile site, every old URL in place.

What's included

  • Speed, plugin and SEO audit before we start
  • A new design, or we work from your mockup
  • A theme without a page builder or extra plugins
  • Content, documents and media migration
  • 301 redirects from every old URL
  • Title, description and Schema.org for every page
  • Switchover from a staging server with a rollback script

A redesign is due when a site stops coping: it loads slowly on phones, looks older than the company, depends on plugins that can no longer be updated, and every edit risks breaking something. Sometimes the problem is only the look. More often the inside is an outdated theme, a page builder and SEO tied to a plugin. A new design on top of that changes nothing.

So we redesign and rebuild at the same time. We change the design, build the theme or templates from scratch, migrate the content and keep what the site has already earned in search: URLs, titles, links to documents. Visitors see a new website, and search engines see the same one, only faster and cleaner.

How we work

  1. Audit. Mobile speed, plugins and their vulnerabilities, templates, SEO settings, the URL map, analytics. The result is a list of what moves as is, what gets rebuilt and what goes. You can also order a standalone website audit.
  2. Structure and mockup. We define sections and page templates, then design the mockup. If your designer already has one, we build from it.
  3. Theme and front end. We write the theme or templates without a page builder or extra plugins. Speed is built in from day one: light CSS, JavaScript without heavy libraries, modern image formats.
  4. Content migration. Texts, product pages, documents, media. Old files stay at their old addresses, so links from emails and other sites keep working.
  5. SEO migration. Title and description for every page, Schema.org markup, a sitemap, closed duplicates, 301 redirects from every old URL.
  6. Staging and switchover. The new site lives on a separate address, closed from indexing until you sign it off. We switch over at a quiet hour, with a rollback script and a check of every old URL right after.
  7. Post-launch checks. Lighthouse on key templates, error logs, IndexNow, recrawl requests in Yandex Webmaster and Search Console.

What you get

A website that looks like the company does today and loads fast on phones. Code that can be maintained: no page builder, no abandoned plugins, a clear structure. And the search equity you already had: old URLs respond or redirect, meta tags and structured data survive the move.

If your site runs on WordPress, you do not have to change the CMS. A new theme and a plugin cleanup are often enough: editors keep the admin they know, and the site becomes a different one.

Timeline and cost

Both depend on the number of page templates, the amount of content and whether a mockup already exists, so we quote after the audit, not before. For reference: a corporate site of about twenty pages with a ready mockup took us five days to rebuild and switch over. A mockup from scratch, a catalog of hundreds of items or a CMS change add time.

A real example

For INIT CENTR, a maker of cathodic protection equipment, we replaced a page-builder theme and 11 plugins with a custom WordPress theme. Mobile Lighthouse for the home page went from 65 to 93, and Largest Contentful Paint dropped from 6.7 to 2.1 seconds. The switchover took about five seconds of downtime, and all 14 URLs from the old sitemap kept responding. Details are in the INIT CENTR case study.

FAQ

Will we lose search rankings after a redesign?
Some movement in the first weeks is normal while search engines recrawl the site. Sharp drops usually come from forgotten redirects and missing titles and descriptions. So we keep URLs where we can, redirect the rest with 301s and check every old URL after the switchover.
Will the site go down during the switchover?
Barely. We build the new site on a staging server and switch the finished version over in one go. In the INIT CENTR case the downtime was about five seconds.
Do we have to change the CMS?
No. If the site runs on WordPress and you are happy with the admin, a new theme and a plugin cleanup are usually enough. We change the CMS when the CMS itself is the problem: it cannot be updated, cannot handle the load or needs a license that is not worth paying for.
How is a redesign different from a new website?
A redesign builds on what the site already has: content, URLs, search equity, customer habits. A new site starts from a blank page. If the old one has almost no traffic or content, a new site is sometimes the honest choice, and the audit will show it.
Can we keep the current design and rebuild only the inside?
Yes. Sometimes the look is fine but the site is slow and runs on outdated plugins. Then we rewrite the theme to match the existing design: almost nothing changes on the outside, and everything changes inside.
How much does a redesign cost?
We quote after the audit. The price depends on the number of distinct page templates, the amount of migration and whether a mockup is needed from scratch. The audit takes a day and gives you a work plan even if you later choose another team.
Who maintains the site after launch?
We can: updates, backups, content edits and indexing checks under our support plans. Or you or your contractor can: we hand over the code, access and a description of how the theme works.
